I don't know about
you, but I
cant make it on my own. I tried for over 36 years, but could not do it. I
didn't know what what the answer was; I just knew I did not have it.
It wasn't
until I started going to a church- where Christian men met in a group-
that I found the answer. This was a group that consisted of men
from all walks of life, from mechanics, to lawyers, to doctors. Now, I
didn't think I belonged in this group, because I thought these were
all better men than me. I was amazed to find out that these men had
similar issues and fears in their lives as I had!
It is hard to be a father, a husband,
and a brother without help.
You see, the Bible says in Ephesians
5:23-26 "And
you husbands, show the same kind of love to your wives as Christ
showed to the church when he died for her, to make her holy and clean,
washed by baptism and God's word."
I don't know about other men, but I
know I cold not fulfill this one verse, let alone many others without
help.
As I continued to meet with these men,
fellowship with these men, and watched the lives that these men lived,
I started to realize these were men who's yes was yes, and no was no.
Here was a group of men who meant what they said, did what they said,
and did it for the Glory of God! Jesus was the reason behind their
lives.
No, these men were not perfect, nor did
they have all the answers. What they did have was a common desire to
learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ, and to serve him better. My
participation in this group helped me to become a man who desires to
be "A Man After God's Own Heart".
Dallas First Assembly is blessed by the
Lord to have such a group of men. Men who understand that to be a "Man
After God's Own Heart" takes commitment and dedication- commitment and
dedication to one's Savior, Family and to one another.
We are also blessed to have Pastor Brad
Fussell. He is a Pastor who recognizes that a strong men's group
helps build a strong church congregation because the Lord placed men
as the head of the home. What an awesome and daunting responsibility!
As the leader of the Men's Group, I
would like to encourage all men to take part in what Jesus has planned
for you as a man, a father, and a husband. |
